Hello Everyone,

You might know me as the Weirdo Foodie on Instagram (I have, ahem, more than 5500 followers, and still counting). Of course, I am a Weirdo from the paradise island of Mauritius in the middle of the Indian Ocean, who loves eating and Instagramming my food (Weird, right?). I have long hesitated to start a blog. Instagram is a platform where I only care about my food aesthetics and post them without much details or history and without really connecting with my audience in the way they might want me to. There is actually a lot I want to say about many of my posts.
What first started as a hobby on my personal Facebook and Instagram accounts, has in the long run become a weird obsession to me and even if I am not a culinary expert nor a chef nor even a good amateur cook, my love for food is immeasurable. For a long time, I'll admit, I have fought a relentless struggle with food and weight issues. Don't worry, it was neither anorexia nor bulimia (I own up to the food I eat and I hate wastage) and I was always relatively skinny (Asian genetics) but it was the constant feeling of not being confident enough to accept my body while not being able to resist chowing down on delicious food (which was actually weird to those who know me well and think you can't have a bombshell body or have a healthy lifestyle while eating whatever I wanted everyday). So, through this blog, I hope to dig deep into my history and experience with food hoping to accept that I am indeed a weird foodie and that I have nothing to regret about it. Come on, food was not made to feel guilty about.
Furthermore, as I am jotting down those few words, Mauritius has been under a national lockdown since the 20th March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic currently raging on a worldwide scale. Well, given that I have been working from home, eating my heart out and doing some cooking, the need to start a blog to provide more insight into my world, maybe doing some detailed reviews of the places I eat at, sharing recipes, food experiences during my occasional travels has become more evident to me. So here I am, a full-on blogger. It will, without a doubt, be a new way for me to communicate and share with my followers.
Last but not least, since I want this blog to have a more appealing and meaningful feel to it, and due to limited time once I resume work in the future, my main focus shall remain my Instagram account for now where I will post on a more regular basis. Writing and Editing is actually a challenge. Watch out for my upcoming posts.
Let the foodventure begin :)
